Fr. Adelino Ascenso re-elected Superior General of the Missionary Society of the Good News
Fr. Adelino Ascenso was re-elected superior general of the Missionary Society of the Good News (SMBN) in the general assembly of the institution, which elected a new Council for the four-year period 2022-2026, at the St. Francis Xavier Seminary, in Fatima.
The new general direction is completed with Father Luís Miguel Pereira de Castro, as first assistant and vicar general, and three more assistants, Fathers Albino Manuel Valente dos Anjos, Isidro Albino José and Joaquim Manuel da Silva Pinho.
Father Adelino Ascenso has been chosen to be Superior General of the Missionary Society of Good News for the third time, he was elected for the first time in 2014, and re-elected in the 2018 assembly.
The
Missionary Society of Good News is a Society of Apostolic Life, made up of
priests and lay people "who consecrate their lives to the work of
evangelising the world", initially called the Portuguese Society of
Catholic Missions, it was founded by Pope Pius XI in 1930, responding to the
appeal of the Portuguese bishops.
