Brother Pascal AHODEGNON was elected Superior General of the Hospitaller Order of St John of God on Friday 1st November 2024, during the 70th General Chapter held in Czestochowa, Poland.

Brother Pascal was born on 10 April 1971 in Savé, Benin, and has served as General Councillor since 2012. He entered the Order in 1994, took temporary vows on 15 August 1997 and made his final vows on 25 May 2003. He graduated in medicine and surgery in Milan, Italy. He was elected General Councillor in 2012 and re-elected in 2019, specifically responsible for the Africa region.

Sixty-seven Brothers and nineteen co-workers participated in the General Chapter 'Hospitality in a Changing World', which took place from 15 October to 7 November 2024. This meeting was an opportunity to define the main guidelines and recommendations for the life of the Hospitaller Order over the next six years.

The Hospitaller Order of St. John of God comprises 161 communities and 410 health, social and socio-medical facilities in 54 countries, serving the sick and needy. It is made up of 965 religious and 65,000 co-workers, who make up the St John of God Hospitaller Family.

  • Brother Saji MULLANKUZHY JOHN, Second General Councillor; India
  • Brother Etienne Mbad SENE, Third General Councillor; Sénégal
  • Brother Edward Oliver LYNCH, Fourth General Councillor; USA
  • Brother Yoan JUNG, Fifth General Councillor, Korea
