Elections of a New Superior General: Father Dwi, SMM

The 38th General Chapter of the Montfort Missionaries

Meeting together in Rome, the 53 capitulants of the General Chapter of the Company of Mary have elected a new Superior General:
Father Yoseph Putra Dwi Darma WATUN, SMM

Father Yoseph Putra Dwi Darma WATUN was born in Magelng, Central Java, Indonesia, on 16 July 1970. He pronounced his first vows on 15 August 1992 and was ordained on 21 June 1998. He speaks Bahasa Indonesian, English, French and Italian. He has been involved in the following ministries :

– 1997 – 1998: Diaconate ministry at Immaculate Virgin Mary Parish, Putussibau, Indonesia

– 1998 – 1999: International Montfortian Institute

– 1999 – 2000: Socius at the SMM novitiate in Bandung, Indonesia

– 2000 – 2004: Licentiate in the Institute of Religious Life in Asia, Manila, Philippines

– 2004 – 2009: Novice Master of the SMM novitiate, in Ruteng, Indonesia

– 2009 – 2011: Superior of the SMM Indonesia

– 2011 – 2017: The general assistant of the SMM

– 2017 – 2020: On-going Formation at the institute of the integral human formation of Montreal, Canada.

– 2020 – 2023: Rector of the SMM Scholasticate, Indonesia

–09 May 2023 elected as the 23rd Superior General of the Company of Mary
