Fr. José Antonio Nieto Sepúlveda, re-elected Superior General of the Order of the Somascan Fathers

The 140th General Chapter of the Somascan Fathers, which is being held in Ariccia (Rome), has re-elected Fr. José Antonio Nieto Sepúlveda (Spain) as Superior General of the Order of the Clerics Regular of Somasca, becoming the 165th successor of St. Jerome Emiliani.
After a time of discernment and prayer, the capitulars have once again entrusted Fr. Nieto Sepúlveda to continue to guide the Order in the next six years. With a deep spirit of service, he assumes this responsibility with the mission of strengthening community life, formation and evangelisation in the various Somascan provinces.
New General Council
Together with the Superior General, the following councillors have been elected, who will work in communion to accompany the mission of the Order in the coming years:
- Fr. Grecious Yesudasan (India) - Vicar General.
- Fr. Gianluca Cafarotti (Italy) - 2nd Councillor
- Fr. Christopher John de Sousa (Australia) - 3rd Councillor
- Fr. José Harvey Montaña (Colombia) - 4th Councillor
This new team will have the task of continuing to promote the Strategic Plan 2025-2031, to strengthen the Somasca presence in the world and to respond to the challenges that the Church and society present today.
