New General Council of Salesians Don Bosco

On February 16, 2020, the 28th General Chapter of Salesians Don Bosco opened in Turin in the Mother House of Valdocco, the deadline of which, scheduled for April 4, was brought forward to March 14 due to the situation that Italy and the whole world is experiencing because of coronavirus emergency.

The theme of the Chapter was: "Which Salesians for today's young people?"

Fr Ángel Fernández Artime was reconfirmed Rector Major for the 2020-2026 six-year term. The first thought of the re-elected Rector Major was for young people: "I think this period must be strongly marked by this conviction: we must bring God to young people. And at the same time, as I have said many times, and I will continue to say it all over the world: especially to the most needy young people, the poorest, the exploited, the discarded ... We were born for them ".

Finally, reconfirmed as Economer General was Bro Jean Paul Muller, Salesian coadjutor.
