Reiventing the Global Compact on Education
As we all know, Pope Francis has made a global appeal, to all societal stakeholders, aimed at "reinventing the Educational Pact." We take up the pope's words with which he calls us to this exciting task:
"I wish to endorse a global event, to take place on 15 October 2020 on the theme 'Reinventing the Global Compact on Education'. This meeting will rekindle our dedication for and with young people, renewing our passion for a more open and inclusive education, including patient listening, constructive dialogue and better mutual understanding. Never before has there been such need to unite our efforts in a broad educational alliance, to form mature individuals capable of overcoming division and antagonism, and to restore the fabric of relationships for the sake of a more fraternal humanity." (Pope Francis)
Our Unions of Superiors General, through the Education Commission, are collaborating in all the work of preparing for the world event which will take place in Rome in mid-October of this year 2020, God willing.
On the one hand, we are collaborating in the publication of a book containing the reflections of the superiors general who wish to participate. The book will be published by the OIEC.
Moreover, we are organizing a "working seminar" on the Compact on Education, aimed at those responsible for education in the General Curiae, members of the General and Provincial Councils, and the various national or regional leaders of our Educational Institutions who may be interested. This seminar will be held in Rome in November 2020. All the necessary information and the registration system will be communicated in due course.
