From August 30, 2024, to September 27, 2024, the 6th General Congress of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity took place with pontifical approval. The congress was held at the Verbum Dei Spirituality House in Loeches (Madrid), and the chosen theme was: "Communion, Consecration, and Participation in the Mission."

The main objectives of the General Congress were: the revision of the Constitutions for their final approval, the study of the Fraternity's situation worldwide, the election of the president and the general leaders of the three branches of the Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity, and the formulation of the government program for the next six-year term. According to the will of the Fraternity's founder, the presidency alternates between a missionary man and a missionary woman, and this time a missionary woman was elected.

The Verbum Dei Missionary Fraternity consists of female missionaries, male missionaries, and missionary couples, integrated into their respective branches. The General Congress represents the highest governing body, with the participation of 78 congress members from the three branches of the Fraternity. Its role is to update the life and formation of the Verbum Dei charism according to the circumstances of the Church and the world.

For this General Congress, a synodal methodology was adopted, starting from the preparatory acts and continuing through the congress sessions, which represented the fourth level of discussions. The aim was to gather the sentiments of all members of the Fraternity and the Verbum Dei Missionary Family worldwide, in order to address key issues, make decisions, and conduct elections for governing bodies.

The General Council of Missionaries is composed of:

  • Fr. Sergio Rodríguez Ramírez (General Leader, Mexican)

  • Fr. David Rolo Cabello (Deputy Leader and Secretary, Spanish)

  • Fr. Alain Tchiemegne (Counselor, Cameroonian)

  • Fr. Oswaldo de Jesús Ramos Peña (Counselor, Mexican)
